Photography Journey to Japan: Discovering Spirituality and Traditional Icons
Itinerary: Osaka – Mount Koya – Shira Hama – Kumano Kodo – Mikimoto – Ise – Kyoto – Mount Kurama – Tokyo
Discover authentic Japan through an exclusive photography journey, designed by photographers for photographers, to explore the deepest soul of the Land of the Rising Sun. A unique itinerary accompanied by Massimo Bassano and Myriam Casper, professional photographers with profound knowledge of Japan, who will guide you on the ground to help you improve your travel photography and tell authentic stories through images.
This photography tour of Japan is much more than a simple journey: it is an immersive experience in which photographic technique merges with human experience, observation, and direct contact with local culture. Whatever your photographic medium is—SLR, mirrorless, or smartphone—you will learn to create images capable of going beyond appearances, capturing the essence of places and people.
The itinerary begins in the heart of Japanese spirituality, with a charming overnight stay in a Buddhist monastery on sacred Mount Koya, before continuing along the mystical Kumano Kodo, an ancient pilgrimage route declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crossing temples, shrines, and sacred forests. We'll venture into the Kii Hanto Peninsula, visiting the pearl island of Mikimoto and the sacred area of Ise, considered the cradle of Shintoism.
The journey continues to Kyoto, the ancient imperial capital, where we'll alternate iconic sites of Japanese tradition with landscapes still far from mass tourism, such as the charming fishing village of Ine no Funaya, famous for its houses on the water, and the spiritual paths of Mount Kurama. The tour concludes in Tokyo, a futuristic and vibrant metropolis, the perfect epilogue to a country suspended between a millennia-old past and continuous innovation.
This photography journey in Japan is open to all photography enthusiasts, both beginners and experts, as well as those who wish to experience it without photography as their primary goal. An exclusive, authentic, and profound itinerary, possible only through the eyes and experience of professional photographers.
